From Section 4: Wing Chun Kau Sau VS A Double Throat Grab
The concept of Kau Sau is missing in some of the modern schools of Wing Chun. Part of the reason is that most fights occur between opponent where each has a one foot and arm forward. Attacks where the attacker's shoulders are squared off with your shoulders are becoming more common nowadays with the rise of MMA. Also, if you get attacked by an American football lineman he comes at you straight on with both arms. The fourth section of the dummy deals with squared off attackers and a two hands vs two hands bridge configuration. In order to have your thigh muscles lined behind this kind of bridge you need footwork patterns that are different from what you saw in Sections 1-3 in the Wooden Dummy Set. Below is a slide show of screen shots from one of the movies in this book. This is only one of the dummy sequences that we provide you Dummy X exercises for. Dummy X exercises drill precision footwork that increases your spontaneity in real street fight situations.

FROM SECTION 3: WING CHUN VS TWO STICKS
In this example you learn about positioning where your footwork responds to a circular attack. The pressure on Green's gravity line is sufficient enough to keep Green from maintaining an engagement. The Dummy X exercises in this book train a sight picture which shows you where not to be in this type of situation. In fact you even use the outside edge of the opponent's attacking arc to position yourself to blow through his gravity line.
